FCC Covered List robot tracker
Publicly announced conditional approvals that exempt specific foreign-produced advanced robotic devices from the FCC Covered List. Search by manufacturer, equipment or notice number.
Background
- On 28 July 2026 the FCC added “foreign-produced advanced robotic devices, except advanced robotic devices which have been granted a Conditional Approval by DoW” to the Covered List (DA 26-786). Equipment on the Covered List cannot receive new FCC equipment authorizations. Existing authorizations and devices already in use are reported as unaffected.
- The category is reported to cover autonomous or semi-autonomous mobile ground robots (for example AMRs, humanoids, quadrupeds, and inspection, security or agricultural robots) above a weight threshold, with sensors and wireless connectivity. Fixed industrial arms, drones (listed separately), underwater vehicles, rail-bound vehicles and connected cars are reported as excluded.
- “Foreign-produced” is reported to follow where a product is manufactured, not where the company is headquartered.
- Conditional approvals follow a Department of War review and name specific equipment. Per DA 26-996, approvals without a termination date remain effective indefinitely while the company follows its onshoring plan and updated product vetting, and can be terminated otherwise.
The quoted designation, its date and notice number, and the approval terms are confirmed in FCC Public Notice DA 26-996. The remaining points (effect on existing devices, scope, exclusions and “foreign-produced”) are summarized from secondary sources and have not yet been checked against the FCC originals. Notices in the same period also covered non-robot equipment (for example power inverters, routers and drones); those are not listed here.
